An online sellout at MMCA Seoul can still leave you a same-day option, and that option depends on which exhibition sold out. For the Do Ho Suh exhibition, MMCA's ticketing notice dated August 28, 2026 on the MMCA Seoul visitor information page says online and onsite tickets come from separate allocations, and onsite tickets are sold first-come for the current day's time slots. The exhibition runs from August 27, 2026 to February 9, 2027, per its official MMCA exhibition page. That notice covers one named exhibition. It isn't a general rule for every sold-out MMCA show, and a queue at the counter gives you a chance at entry with no promise of a ticket.
How the Do Ho Suh onsite allocation works
Per the August 28, 2026 MMCA notice for the Do Ho Suh exhibition, online and onsite tickets come from separate allocations. The onsite counter sells time slots for the same day only, first-come, subject to remaining inventory. You can't buy a future date or a slot on another day at the counter.
Onsite visitors also can't pick a time slot in advance. The counter issues tickets sequentially, in order, subject to museum operations, so the slot you receive is the next one available when you reach the counter. The museum publishes no live count of onsite tickets left.
If you're visiting between August 27, 2026 and February 9, 2027, the Do Ho Suh terms apply to that exhibition. If a different exhibition sold out online, read that exhibition's own notice, since the separate-allocation terms are attached to the Do Ho Suh exhibition.
The general MMCA Seoul visitor page (retrieved 2026-11-03) lists hours of 10:00 to 18:00, extended to 21:00 on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with closures on January 1, Lunar New Year's Day and Chuseok.
Picking the exhibition before you queue
Fees at MMCA Seoul differ by exhibition. Decide which exhibition you want first, then check whether its time slots are the ones that sold out online.
The visitor page describes an all-pass priced at 10,000 won. It's offered when three or more paid exhibitions are operating at the same time. With fewer paid exhibitions running, the all-pass isn't sold, so treat it as a conditional option. The page also notes that some visitors qualify for free admission and that current late or free windows have their own terms. Read those terms on the official page; this article doesn't determine your eligibility.
If your schedule is flexible, compare the Wednesday and Saturday evening hours with the posted terms for any free or late window. That comparison is a planning step, and the official page makes no promise about onsite slots on a given evening.
Protecting the rest of your day
What follows is a suggested way to organize the day. It isn't museum policy. A same-day onsite queue has no guaranteed outcome, and sequential issuance means you can't choose your entry time, so keep fixed reservations, meals and transport outside the window you set aside for the counter. A hypothetical example: if you arrive at 10:00 and give yourself one hour, decide in advance that at 11:00 you either hold a ticket for a slot that fits your day or move on to your next plan.
Shopping fits after the museum decision. If you want a general conversation with a pharmacist about everyday health and beauty products while in the city, PVRE Pharmacy, listed officially as PURE PHARMACY, describes stores in Seongsu (서울특별시 성동구 성수이로20길 3) and Myeongdong (서울특별시 중구 명동8길 41) on its official store page. That page lists addresses and the pharmacist-conversation concept; confirm hours and products directly with the store. Museum ticketing and admission questions go to MMCA Seoul, and medical, customs or tax questions go to the relevant authority or your own clinician.
