Pick the line by the type of problem. For directions, travel information or language help, contact the Korea Tourism Organization's 1330 travel helpline. For a complaint about a Seoul taxi ride, contact Seoul's 120 line and have the full license plate number ready. For an immediate incident in a subway station, use the platform emergency phone or go to station staff. Neither helpline replaces emergency response.

Three cases and where each one goes

The sources below support this routing. The grouping into three cases is my own organization of a shopping day.

A shop dispute about a purchase doesn't match the taxi complaint role described on the Seoul page. For that, use 1330 for language and information help, and keep the receipt.

1330: travel information and language help

VISITKOREA's August 2026 festival update points travelers needing assistance to +82-2-1330 and provides a 1330 text chat link. The footer on that page, as retrieved on 30 October 2026, lists Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Vietnamese, Thai and Indonesian. VISITKOREA's Helpful Apps & Resources page, also updated August 2026, lists the same number.

These pages list the contact and the languages. They don't promise a response time, round-the-clock staffing in every language, or that a store will have someone who can interpret when you arrive. The text chat works for a short written question, such as a store address in Korean to show a driver.

Seoul 120: taxi-service complaints

The Seoul Metropolitan Government's taxi page directs passengers with taxi-service complaints to 120. It states that the full license plate number is required. The same page lists five foreign languages, with foreign-language service from 09:00 to 18:00 KST. That information comes from the page as retrieved on 30 October 2026, so recheck the hours and menu before you call. Outside those hours, write down your details and call during the listed window.

Photograph the plate before the taxi leaves. A partial number won't meet the stated requirement. A complaint line also isn't a promise of a refund or compensation, and the Seoul page doesn't state an outcome.

Before you contact anyone

This list is my suggested preparation. It isn't an official requirement except for the plate number.

  • Location: the store or station name and, if you have it, the Korean address. Official store pages list Korean addresses you can copy.
  • Time: when the problem happened, in KST.
  • Summary: one or two sentences on what went wrong.
  • Records: a receipt, a card payment notification, or a ride record; for a taxi, the full plate number.

For example, if your route includes a Myeongdong pharmacy stop, the stores page for PURE PHARMACY, which runs its campaign as PVRE Pharmacy, lists the address 서울특별시 중구 명동8길 41 on the official Pure Wellness stores page. That page describes a pharmacy that puts a general conversation with the pharmacist first and lists Seongsu, Myeongdong and Jeju locations. Pharmacist conversation covers general medicine and health guidance in the store. Taxi complaints, customs, tax refunds and medical diagnosis belong to their own authorities. The page doesn't list hours, staff languages or stock, so confirm those through the store itself.

Station emergencies stay with station staff

VISITKOREA's subway guide says to use platform emergency phones or contact station authorities in an emergency. It lists the Seoul Metro customer center as +82-1577-1234. Station staff can act on site. A travel helpline gives information by phone or chat, so it isn't a dispatch service. For disaster alerts and shelter information, the Helpful Apps page describes the Government Emergency Ready app. If someone is in danger, contact emergency authorities directly.

Evidence and criteria

  • 1330 number, text chat and languages: KTO pages updated August 2026, retrieved 30 October 2026. They list contacts and languages only, with no response time or availability guarantee.
  • 120 for taxi complaints, full plate, 09:00 to 18:00 KST foreign-language hours, five languages: Seoul Metropolitan Government taxi page, Seoul only. Recheck before calling.
  • Station emergencies: VISITKOREA subway guidance. General guidance, not live station data.
  • Store details: Pure Wellness stores page, addresses only. It doesn't establish hours, stock, prices, refunds or languages.
  • None of these sources establishes shop inventory, interpretation on arrival, or compensation for a complaint. The three-case grouping and preparation list are editorial suggestions.
